Start at Home

Reduce your energy footprint

Climate action can begin at home - by weatherizing your house or replacing old inefficient appliances -- and reducing energy use!

Fortunately, federal Inflation Reduction Act rebates and Focus on Energy discounts are still available for all income levels. For some households, the entire cost of upgrades is covered 100%!

Take advantage of these resources now -- and share this  information with your friends and neighbors!

Get out There!

Attend or Host an Event

We host and co-host events and webinars that address climate and equity related issues. Recent events have focused on the Climate and Equity Plan, energy efficiency, Inflation Reduction Act benefits, and green jobs.

Members of Our Future Milwaukee Coalition are also available to give presentations about the Climate and Equity Plan to community groups - just send us an email!

The best place to find announcements about events is in our newsletter - make sure you are signed up!

EV Charging Project

Milwaukee’s Environmental Collaboration Office has secured federal grants to create an EV charging infrastructure that will address the needs of Milwaukee residents wherever they live.

Milwaukee's Common Council has approved the first batch of stations, planned for parking lots in public locations. Now it must be approved by the County Board of Supervisors.

Data Centers

Data center development is booming in Wisconsin. The state already hosts 43 data centers, 21 of which are located in the Milwaukee area. Now Microsoft plans to add 15 new data centers to a project in Mount Pleasant, and construction has begun on a new $15 billion center in Port Washington.

The massive size of the new centers and a lack of transparency from developers about energy and water consumption are raising concerns among environmentalists and residents.

Volunteer

Use Your Skills and Interests to Make a Difference

Volunteers like you are helping to enact a shared vision of a healthy and sustainable community.

Taking action is also one your best defenses against feeling helpless in the face of the climate crisis and racial inequity.

A few opportunities for your engagement are listed below. Feel free to contact us and we can tailor your volunteer experience to the time and talents you have to offer.

Join an Action Group

Milwaukee's Climate and

Equity Plan covers ten different sectors - and we can't be experts in all of them.

That is where you come in!

Your lived experience or expertise can help to ensure that Milwaukee's Plan is

serving everyone.

Let us know if you are interested in a specific sector, such as transportation, energy efficiency, housing,

or green jobs.

Share your Expertise

How exactly does a city

or other municipality monitor and report progress on a climate action plan?

We have been designated by the Wisconsin Office of Sustainability and Clean Energy to create a toolkit, which will share what we have learned with other municipalities across the state .

Let us know if you like to do research or have experience

in this area.

Lend a Hand

It takes many hands to keep an active coalition running smoothly.

Whether you are looking for a one-time, occasional, or longer-term volunteer opportunity,

you can be helpful.

Opportunities include

clerical tasks, assisting

with communications, tabling at events, and organizing meetings and activities.
